Elvis Presley and other watchable obsessions...

Jones really hadn't watched many moving images until November of last year when I introduced him to my favourite movie of ALL time, Babe! *sigh* He, rightfully, loved it. The obsession with the 'talkie' began from this point.

After watching Babe about three million times, Jones soon became obsessed with the following talking movies and vids: 'Makass' (see below), which he watched about 2 million; 'In The Night Garden' with Nana and Taid at their hotel over Christmas; a brilliant NASA documentary called 'For All Mankind' (check it out if you haven't seen it - totally brilliant, even if you don't give a rat's about space and moon walking *not of the MJ variety* the footage, images and music - by Brian Eno - are utterly breathtaking and inspiring); 'Little Miss Sunshine' (This continues to hold top stop as his uber-favourite! Are we irresponsible for parents letting him watch it, albeit somewhat edited...?!); the totally F.A.B.U.L.O.U.S. 'Muppet Movie ' (tied right now with 'Little Miss Sunshine'...phew, our kid does like something that's meant for kids); and, finally, a four part documentary on Elvis Presley called 'Elvis by The Presleys' (also quite ass-kicking).

The latter was aired on the BBC iPlayer over two weeks and during that time Jones wanted everything Elvis. He now requests to listen to Elvis and can sing some of the words to 'Heartbreak Hotel' and 'In the Ghetto'...

It's not that we're trying to make him a rock star...really, it's not...

Got to live with the times Liz. It doesn't make you irresponsible. He will probably be a whizz on the computer as well by 4. Most of the time, I suspect if it's in moderation, he will grow up to be just A-ok.

I don't put Vishan in front of the TV and leave him in front of it but I never stop him from seeing if I am watching it. He doesn't care for it though even when it is on. He will look up if there is music (loves music). He is more interested in other things around the house. But then that might be an age thing.
