Cymru: Terror on the Go-Gator

Marilyn, Angus, Jones and I went for a walk along the waterfront in Conwy after visiting the castle. We came across a temporary fun fair. Jones - given his recent obsession with small coin-operated rides (see future posts) - went running toward the Go-Gator mini-rollercoaster like the speed of light. Thinking he'd be too small for it, we asked the 'nice young man' (translation: the haggard Carnie) if Jones could take a ride. 'Nice young man' said "yes". Oh dear - this thing didn't look like a ride for an almost-two year old, J-Ray totally comprehended 'nice young man's' affirmation and walked on up to the stairs to take a ride. Angus asked 'nice young man' how fast it went and 'nice young man' said "kids speed", so, well, what are we to do? It's roller coaster time!

As Angus and Jones sat in their little car waiting for the ride to start, J's anticipation was at boiling point; he was squeeling and waving with the excitement of, well, a kid about to go on his first roller coaster. The ride started. So far so good. Then, it hit "kids speed"...

Jones started squeeling again, but this time it was the sound of terror. He and Angus's little car flew by in a flash with Jones's doppler-ized howl indicating his discontent. Angus said Jones's little boy paws were clawing into him for dear life. After only a few moments, the glory of the Go-Gator was shattered.

Fortunately, Jones was able to center himself again very quickly once the Go-Gator had ceased 'gating', and we were able to chuckle after having many hugs and kisses. For the rest of the day we couldn't stop saying "hey Jones, do you want to go on the Go-Gator again" to which he'd clip 'NO!" with vitriol. Poor boy. It's not right to be teased by your parents, we know.
